Renault returns to the podium, becoming first French brand and number two brand in Europe

Global sales of the Renault brand reached 770,807* in the first half of the year, an increase of 11% compared to the first half of 2022. The brand is growing its sales share in the most profitable channels and value creation sectors.

The Renault brand sold a total of 770,807 vehicles (PC and LCV) to customers worldwide in the first half of 2023 (+11%).

In Europe, sales in the first half of 2023 increased by 21% to 501,985 units (PC and LCV). As in 2022, the brand shows significant progress in high-value segments such as the growing electrification market**, C-segment, retail market and LCV business.

Growth of the electrification market

Strong HEV sales growth of 83,000 units (+40%) drove the electrification drive of the Renault brand, with overall sales increasing by 17% to 132,500 units. Austral, with 65% of HEV sales, and Arcana, with 55% of HEV sales, contributed significantly to this success.

Megane E-Tech Electric, which will go on sale throughout the year in 2023, achieved sales of more than 23,000 units in the first half. It is the best-selling electric car in France in its segment. Mégane accounts for nearly 50% of our 48,000 EV sales. From the second half of 2023, Mégane will begin its international rollout, with sales in Turkey and Brazil.

Growth of high value-added business

C-segment models accounted for an ever-larger share of sales for the Renault brand, with around 136,195 units sold, an increase of 42%.

Renault Austral was largely responsible for this success, with sales of 39,495 units in the first half of 2023. Renault Arcana is growing steadily, with 41,821 units sold in the first half of 2023.

Despite persistent supply constraints, Renault has met its retail targets and maintained them at optimized levels, with more than one in two vehicles sold to private customers. The retail mix will reach 51% in the first half of 2023, which is +8 points compared to the market average (43%).

Growth of the LCV market

Renault continues to perform well in the LCV market with double-digit sales growth. Worldwide sales he reached 186,000 units (+21.5%), while in Europe he sold 144,250 units, up 25.4% in markets up 11.7%.

This dynamic performance was driven by the success of our flagship products Kangoo (+11.7%), Express (+48.9%), Master (+13.8%) and Traffic (+36%), which Both are leaders in their respective segments.

The brand grew 11.9% in the market thanks to strong performances by Orochi (+36.8%), Kangoo (+21.9%) and Master (+15.9%), outperforming the Latin American trend (+19%) with 27,833 units. increase. ).

After 12 years as an electric commercial vehicle pioneer with Kangoo and Master, the brand will continue this momentum with the launch of the Trafic Van E-Tech and the unveiling of a new multi-energy van before the end of the year.
