Police recovered seven of the 13 vehicles, but only one suspect was identified, aside from the dead Mustang driver. Flint’s ABC 12 reportsLarge-scale vehicle thefts have become increasingly common in the area, they said, but this is the first incident involving a shooting.

The thief shot a jail guard and crashed into his car in an incident around 3 a.m. on Nov. 14. The security guard was not injured.

Flint Police Chief Terrance Greene told Fox2, “We fired at him and exchanged gunfire with the suspect.”
