Consumers are abandoning Toyota and Honda for rival EVs

Tesla’s conquest sales from October 2021 to September 2022 were primarily driven by Toyota (15%) and Honda (13%). The Model Y is reportedly drawing Honda Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, Toyota RAV4 and Lexus RX buyers out of the showrooms.

S&P Global said, “The top five Model 3s are the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

However, mainstream brands aren’t the only ones to worry about. His 6.7% of Tesla Conquest sales were by BMW and 6.2% by Mercedes-Benz. Both brands have invested heavily in electric vehicles, but have yet to acquire the same image that Tesla has cemented in his EV space.

US EV market share more than doubled to 5.2% in the 12 months ending September 30, according to registration data.
