BYD invests 5 million yuan in Shanghai battery factory expansion project

Shanghai (Gasgou)- BYD will invest 5 million yuan ($703,010) in the expansion project of its Shanghai-based subsidiary Shanghai BYD Co., Ltd. (“Shanghai BYD”), according to documents posted on the website of the Environmental Information Disclosure Platform of Shanghai Enterprises and Institutions.

According to the information on the official website, BYD plans to use the A5 factory to carry out two new processes (double flange and inkjet) for the new lithium-ion battery. Once the project is complete, the new facility is expected to process 72 million units of new type batteries annually.

It is worth noting that the expansion project will not affect current battery production.

Located in Songjiang District, Shanghai, Shanghai BYD’s factory specializes in manufacturing lithium-ion batteries and solar modules, as well as processing non-ferrous metal composites and new types of alloy materials.

Shanghai BYD now has a product line covering high capacity lithium ion batteries, plastic shells, solar modules, reusable lithium battery modules, small energy storage systems, new type lithium ion batteries and magnesium/aluminum alloy parts.
