Piero Ferrari and Binotto lead tribute to legendary F1 engineer Forghieri
Forghieri is widely recognized as one of the key players in the history of Scuderia Ferrari. Team manager and designer of both chassis and engine In a Maranello costume.
His tenure with the company lasted from 1959 to 1987 and encompassed some of its most memorable successes. He is credited with his 54 race victories and his 11 world championships.
On the team’s website, Piero Ferrari recalled the mediation between his father and Forghieri.
“When I joined the company in 1965, I shared an office with the first Ferrari employee, Cavalier Giberti,” he said. It was separated from the 10-year-old by a window.
“In fact, we met all day long. Forghieri was energetic and passionate in everything he did. In many of the endless meetings, I recall acting as an intermediary between him and my father.
“My father appreciated his tireless hard work and knew that mistakes can only come from trying to do better and to look ahead.
“We have lost a piece of history and a man who has contributed so much to Ferrari and the racing world in general.”

Binotto said Forghieri was a great motivator with charisma.
“Today is a very sad day for everyone at Scuderia Ferrari,” he said.
“He was appointed team manager at the age of 27 and his great insight made him one of the last all-round engineers in the automotive industry.
“I met him on many occasions and each time there was something special.
“His innovative ideas, along with his exuberant nature and ability to be a great motivator, have meant that he has played a very important role in some of the most important moments in Ferrari history. , has done the most to boost the legend of the Prancing Horse. We will all miss him.”
Forghieri was also heavily involved in Ferrari’s sports car racing program, which was shelved in the early 1970s.

“He was a great innovator and was able to come up with technical solutions that most engineers at the time couldn’t.
“He was a designer beyond defined roles, a reference point and source of inspiration for all who worked with him.
“He is an eclectic designer whose curiosity and desire to push boundaries have established him in the history of Ferrari and motorsport in general.”
