Outlaw Lancia Aurelia Visits Jay Leno’s Garage

Lancia’s only current model is a subcompact hatch known as the Epsilon. In more prosperous times, however, the historic Italian brand produced iconic vehicles such as the Stratos, Delta HF and, of course, the Aurelia.

Aurelia is a luxury nameplate manufactured in the 1950s. It was available in multiple body styles, including a coupe version featured in a recent episode of .Jay Leno’s Garage

The coupe is a 1954 Aurelia owned by Tex Otto. He modified his car extensively, but instead of his outdated look and feel, his own concoction resulted in what is commonly known as the “Outlaw”.A term that grew in popularity after Multiple Porsche 356 Outlaws Built by Rod Emory and his crew at Emory Motorsports in North Hollywood.

But Lancias are rare, especially on this side of the Atlantic. I mean, many brand purists would have a hard time accepting that Otto made an outlaw by chopping up the body of his Aurelia coupe, but the body of Otto’s car was apparently in very bad shape. So, according to him, it was probably never repaired.

Today, Lancia is part of Stellantis, a multinational automaker planning to revive the brand with three new models to be launched between 2024 and 2028. Like the Lantis brand, Lancia’s future lies in electric mobility.By 2028, Lancia will offer exclusively electric vehicles.

Don’t expect Stellantis to bring Lancia to the US Lancia is currently focused on the European market, where it aims to compete in the premium segment.
