Faraday Future begins production of electric crossovers

Faraday’s future Intelligent Electric Inc. announced that it has started production. Electric car Years of turmoil and more than $3 billion in spending followed.

The company celebrated the milestone with a live-streaming event showcasing bodies built by a supplier outside its factory in Hanford, Calif. We plan to start and make the first deliveries late next month.

Faraday still has hurdles to clear before shipping the first FF 91 electric crossover, including certification of critical safety components such as seat belts and airbags. It took a long time for this vehicle to come out — founder Jia Yueting unveiled the first prototype in January 2017.

The company, which went public in a reverse merger in July 2021, is looking to move away from a power struggle over control of its board. A shareholder group associated with the founders, commonly known as YT, has been instigating for months for certain directors to step down after an internal investigation that sidelined executives and their nephews.
