Mercedes-Benz has been spotted testing a compact electric sedan with coupe-like styling.
The car is likely to be the planned electric version of the next generation CLA class, according to which auto car It will be previewed in concept form at the 2023 Munich Auto Show in September, ahead of its market launch in early 2025. The timing points to a US launch for the 2025 or 2026 model year.
The upcoming CLA class, and other members of Mercedes’ next-generation compact family, will ride on a newly developed platform called MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture). The platform will support both hybrid and fully electric powertrains and will be the last platform designed for Mercedes’ petrol engines. Mercedes says its MMA platform will likely yield the first models around 2025, making it the next CLA class. This platform will eventually be used for all Mercedes models up to the C-Class segment. In addition to this, Mercedes will have the MB.EA platform for mid- and heavy-duty models, AMG.EA for AMG’s high-performance models and the Van.EA platform for light commercial vehicles.
