VW ID Buzz bets on battery power and nostalgia to boost EV ambitions

Technically, ID Buzz is based on VW’s ID4 electrical crossover using VW Group’s MEB electrical platform.

VW design boss Jozef Kaban said ID Buzz’s “surprisingly short overhang” creates a direct link to the original. Classic minibusThe rest of the vehicle is updated with the latest safety features and technology.

ID Buzz is an expanded wheelbase version that immediately follows a 6-seater and 7-seater configuration, providing room for up to 5 people. The standard configuration has sliding doors on both sides.

According to VW, the ID Buzz and ID Buzz Cargo have a spacious interior comparable to VW’s T6.1 van, thanks to a compact 4,712mm long wheelbase with a total length of 2,988mm. The T6.1 has a similar wheelbase, but is 192mm longer.

According to Kaban, the car has a lounge-like friendly atmosphere with plenty of space for passengers and luggage.

The cargo edition is large enough to hold two euro-sized pallets in the back.

The dashboard is dominated by a 5.3-inch display and a 10-inch or 12-inch infotainment touch screen located in the center of the dashboard.
