Kia Unveils 2024 EV9 Electric SUV in India, Priced at ₹1.30 Crore

Kia India has officially launched its flagship model, the all-electric Kia EV9 premium SUV, available in a single fully equipped variant—the EV9 GT-Line AWD 6-Seater—priced at ₹1.30 crore (ex-showroom). The EV9 arrives in India as a completely built unit (CBU), similar to the EV6 and the newly launched Kia Carnival, which is priced at ₹63.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Overview of the Kia EV9

The Kia EV9 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same platform used for the EV6, allowing for a spacious three-row seating configuration. This full-size SUV measures 5,015 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm.

Color and Design Features

The Kia EV9 is offered in five color options: Snow White Pearl, Ocean Blue, Pebble Grey, Panthera Metal, and Aurora Black. The India-spec EV9 comes with a single wheel choice—20-inch sporty crystal-cut alloys featuring a triangular aerodynamic design. Design highlights include flush door handles, star map LED DRLs, digital headlights and taillights, glossy black accents, a concealed rear wiper, and a roof-mounted rear spoiler, complemented by rugged front and rear bumpers with heavy black cladding.

Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the Kia EV9 is configured exclusively as a 6-seater, featuring individual captain seats in the second row. Buyers can choose between two cabin trims: White/Black or Brown/Black. The interior boasts leatherette upholstery, a suede headliner, illuminated steering wheel logo, floating center console, 64-color ambient lighting, a dual sunroof, electric steering column adjustment, and electric front seats with a memory function for the driver. Additional features include a leatherette-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, metal scuff plates, and aluminum pedals.

Advanced Technology and Connectivity

The EV9 is equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays—a driver’s display and an infotainment screen—featuring built-in navigation, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It also offers a 360-degree camera, three-zone climate control, head-up display, wireless charging with cooling, Kia Connect with over-the-air updates, a digital key, and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system. Second-row passengers benefit from ventilation and massage functions, while the third row features a 50:50 split-fold and recline capability.

Safety Features

Safety is a priority in the EV9, with a comprehensive list of features including 10 airbags, ABS, ESC, hill hold assist, brake assist, vehicle stability management, and parking sensors at the front, side, and rear. Additionally, it comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, offering 27 active and passive driver-assist features.

Performance and Charging

The EV9 is powered by a 99.8 kWh battery pack, supplying energy to dual electric motors on each axle for an all-wheel-drive setup. This configuration produces a combined output of 383 bhp and a remarkable 700 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. The ARAI-claimed range stands at 561 km, closely aligning with WLTP figures. Moreover, it supports DC fast charging, enabling a 10-80% charge in merely 24 minutes.
