Julian Alaphilippe returns to competition at the French Championship

Julian Alaphilippe returns to competition at French Championship Road Race On Sunday, two months after the crash, he suffered a lung collapse, a broken rib, and a broken scapula.

The course at Cholet this Sunday will feature a 241km Peloton ride that should be a very challenging return to the world champions’ competition. He has Florian Sénéshall and Remi Cavagna on his side.

“If everything goes on, the Tour de France option is still open. It’s still in my heart,” Alaphilippe said. “But it’s very important that we don’t rush, be patient, keep talking to the medical team and get their advice.”

Alaphilippe was caught in a huge pile, fell into a ditch, and then injured in Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
