Haval puts Menglong PHEV onto market

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 10, the Haval Menglong, a fire new plug-in hybrid electric SUV under Great Wall Motor’s Haval brand, officially hit the market, introducing three different trim levels with prices ranging from 165,800 yuan to 183,800 yuan.

The Haval Menglong positions itself as a compact SUV with a robust, boxy overall appearance. Its front end features a rugged grille with a prominent HAVAL emblem, complemented by vintage-style round headlights and a silver accent beneath the bumper, adding a touch of ruggedness to its character.

The side profile of the vehicle remains notably straight-edged, featuring slightly flared wheel arches and lower door cladding, all of which emphasize its tough and off-road persona.

In terms of dimensions, the Haval Menglong measures 4,800mm in length (with the external spare tire), 1,916mm in width, and 1,822mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,738mm. Additionally, it features an approach angle of 24°, a departure angle of 30°, a breakover angle of 19°, a minimum ground clearance of 170mm under full load, 200mm when empty, and a maximum wading depth of 560mm.

The rear end of the vehicle maintains the boxy aesthetic and is equipped with the characteristic external spare tire seen on rugged off-road vehicles. Furthermore, it features a side-opening tailgate and square-shaped taillights.

Inside the cabin, the iconic design language of Haval family is employed. Exposed rivets, clean lines, and a large center touchscreen seamlessly blend technology and ruggedness. The 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster offers crisp display quality and provides a range of information, including navigation and cruise control. An independent gear information display screen is positioned above it. Additionally, the lower part of the center console features physical buttons, ensuring practicality.

Besides, the 14.6-inch central touchscreen display is equally clear, offering entertainment applications such as Kuwo Music, Tencent Video, and Ximalaya. In terms of responsiveness, the system impresses with its 250ms intelligent voice wake-up speed, 500ms visible voice response, 900ms vehicle control response, and 1,300ms online skill response.

On the power front, the Haval Menglong is equipped with a 1.5T+Hi4 intelligent four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system. The 1.5T engine delivers a maximum power of 123kW and a peak torque of 243N·m. Furthermore, the vehicle incorporates a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with optional capacities of 19.09kWh and 27.54kWh. The former offers an NEDC battery-only range of 102km, while the latter provides 145km. Both batteries can be charged from 30% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, supporting 33kW/41kW fast charging and V2L (vehicle-to-load) at 3.3kW.

In terms of handling, the new vehicle is equipped with a four-wheel-drive system and rear differential lock to ensure its off-road capabilities. Additionally, it offers seven driving modes and an L2 intelligent driving assistance system.
