ERA-GLONASS system becomes mandatory again for imported foreign cars
.- From 1 October 2022, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs when importing vehicles into Russia must be equipped with an ERA-[{” attribute=””>GLONASS emergency call systems. In order to curb the speculative increase in the prices of āpanic buttonsā, manufacturers will set the suggested retail prices for such devices, reports the press service of GLONASS.
Remember that the temporary procedure for importing cars not equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system was introduced in May this year. For individuals, the moratorium on the installation of āpanic buttonsā is still in effect until February 1, 2023.
Since 2017, all new cars imported into Russia or sold in the country must be equipped with ERA-GLONASS modules, from which accidents are automatically reported and the exact coordinates of the car are transmitted. As of today, almost 9 million vehicles have been registered with ERA-GLONASS.
