DHL Express Renews 20 Cargo Ship Contract with Atlas Air

Atlas Air announced that it will continue to operate 20 large cargo ships for DHL Express after the express delivery company extends its existing contract.

This arrangement ensures that DHL Express continues to have access to outsourced airlifts to support the fast-growing express business driven by e-commerce.

The aircraft is Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (NASDAQ: NASDAQ: AAWW) Subsidiaries Atlas Air, Polar Air Cargo, Southern Air. Polar Air Cargo is a 13-year joint venture between Atlas and DHL, with DHL holding a 49% stake, including 25% voting rights. Strategic arrangements provide DHL Express-guaranteed capacity in major trading lanes, giving Atlas a predictable long-term source of revenue.

Atlas currently operates four types of aircraft for DHL Express.

  • 6 Boeing 747-8 cargo ships
  • Two Boeing 747-400 cargo ships
  • Eight Boeing 777-200 cargo ships
  • 4 Boeing 767-300 cargo ships

“As this agreement shows, Atlas is leveraging the conditions of the world’s strong air cargo market as we deepen our relationships with our customers,” said Atlas Air CEO John Dietrich.

Atlas last week Air has signed a five-year labor contract with the pilot.
