Correa remains in ART for the 2022 Formula 3 season

Following a horrific crash at the cancellation of the 2019 Formula Two round at Spa Francorchamps, which killed Anthoine Hubert, Correa made a sensational comeback with the team last season.

In the accident, Corea suffered a serious injury to his leg and was placed in an induced coma to help recover from acute respiratory distress syndrome.

After a long rehab, Corea gained enough mobility to return to the race and joined ART in F3 in the 2021 season in partnership with Frederik Vesi and Alexander Smolyar.

Ecuadorian-American drivers finished 21st in the drivers ranking in their first year back in the saddle and scored 11 points a year in the 6th best finish at the opening of the Paul Ricard Sprint.

“I’m very happy to be able to stay at the ART Grand Prix for another year and build the first season together,” said Correa.

“2021 was not an easy season for me. There was a lot of work done not only in sports, but also in both foot rehabilitation and medical progress.

“I feel this season is an opportunity for me to start from a much higher level and get back to where I can. Thank you very much for your continued support of ART and our partners. I think it will be a good year. increase.”

Correa enjoyed a powerful debut campaign in F2 before the accident and won two podiums for the Sauber-backed Charlows Racing System team at the time.

He rejoined Charouz for last year’s F2 postseason test at the Yas Marina Circuit to extend the time he spent on the steering wheel of the racing car spent on the overall recovery of 2020.

“Juan Manuel provided positive feedback by making progress after being in perfect harmony with the team and missing a year for that important event in his career,” said the ART team. The boss, Sebastien Philippe, said.

“The strength of his personality allowed him to grab the steering wheel and rediscover the joy and fight regularly in the top 10. In 2022, with the help of the ART Grand Prix, he went further to the goal. Be enthusiastic about taking a step. Get closer to the front line and join the team’s ambition to win both championships. “

Correa has partnered with Gregory Sorcy, the winner of the Formula Regional European Championship in the team, to win the final day of the post-season test in Valencia with ART. The team’s third driver has not yet been announced. Correa remains in ART for the 2022 Formula 3 season
