AlphaTauri makes ‘strong evolution’ with AT04 F1 car as first images

Italy national team A coloring event was held in New York on Saturday night. We also took the opportunity to release some basic renders of the 2023 Challenger.

The actual AT04 will undergo a shakedown at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Tuesday before pre-season testing begins in Bahrain on February 23rd.

Renderings published on Saturday don’t show much detail on the car, but they do show that the sidepod inlets are different.

The downwash area also has ramps that the AT03 did not have, and the nose and front wing are similar to the concept used at the end of last season.

Technical director Jody Egginton explained that the team tried aggressively to improve packaging and aerodynamics to raise downforce levels, which were a major weakness last year.

Reflecting on the team’s take on the 2022 tricky campaign, Egginton said: A shortcoming identified in last year’s car.

“Simply put, we are lacking downforce compared to our leading competitors and have identified an opportunity to reduce mass.”

“Almost every area of the car represents a strong evolution from the AT03, and great attention has been paid to the packaging to provide the best possible basis for aerodynamic development.”

Sister team Red Bull produced the best car last year, Max Verstappen won his second world title, Alpha Tauri has avoided buying more parts from Milton Keynes.

“The synergy program continues on the same basis as before,” added Egginton.

“While we have kept some components to the same spec as last year, others have changed, the full range of components purchased from Red Bull remains virtually the same.

“It’s a strategic choice we make from time to time, but overall it represents a continuation of what we did last year.” AlphaTauri makes ‘strong evolution’ with AT04 F1 car as first images
