2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe recalled for battery power failure

2022-2023 jeep wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid NHTSA said on Monday that it is being recalled due to the loss of battery power, which increases the risk of crashes.

Incorrect fasteners can result in high fuse interface resistance, excessive heat generation, and fuse failure. In that case, the Jeep may lose power and increase the risk of collision.

Owners may notice a malfunctioning light in the cluster, a change in driving behavior, or noise from the battery pack. The recall covers 13,722 Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs. Stellantis said he was aware of six field reports and three of his warranty claims, but said no injuries or crashes occurred.

Affected vehicles are inspected for improper fasteners and the fuse assembly is replaced. If the battery pack experiences a thermal event such as charring or discoloration, Stellantis will replace the battery pack assembly.

Separately, the 2020-2022 diesel iteration Jeep Wrangler also recalled due to potential engine power loss.

Owners will be notified by email as early as December 2nd that the work is covered under warranty. Stellantis will reimburse owners who have already completed the work, as long as the request is accompanied by a receipt or “other proper proof of payment.”
